I started drawing at an early age, but began experimenting with digital art in 2015 on an iPad. In 2017, after having my iPad smashed by a school bully, I had to stop drawing digitally. One year later (February 2019), I started up digital art again after a year long break, and haven’t stopped since. Animals have always been my inspiration to draw.
The top picture is the first drawing I did when I started digital art again in February 2019. The bottom one was painted in October 2019 From 2015-18 I ran a hamster rescue in my bedroom. Saving as many as I could from abuse and neglect. Unfortunately this came to an end in September 2018, when my last hamster died and I was too upset to take in any more. In July 2018, after dropping out of school, I started volunteering at a local cat rescue. Seeing abandoned cats living rough on the streets has only pushed me to do as much as I can to save them and raise awareness of the overpopulation of cats. Currently (as of September 2019) I am working independently, without the help of a rescue charity, to save some of the cats who need help locally. After rescuing Albert (who’s story you can read by clicking below), I set up PatchPaw Art, in the hope that my art will raise the funds required to save many more cats. A bit about how I rescue cats: I set up a humane trap, bait it with some nice stinky tuna, and wait. Once I get the cat, I take the cat in and start the process of getting them back to full health. This can take anywhere from a few weeks to several months depending on how sick the cat is, or if it has wounds or is pregnant etc. The cat will then be neutered/spayed and be re-homed. As well as trapping adult cats, newborn or premature kittens also may need my help. Orphaned kittens need to be syringe or bottle fed and this requires someone experienced who can act as their mother. I take in neonatal kittens from as young as a couple of hours old. All of this requires patience and care, but also money. And the only way I’m able to raise the funds to care for cats like Albert is to sell my art (I’m a 16 year old lad). So, I do commissions and I also sell prints of animals I’ve painted. Read about the cat who inspired PatchPaw Art here
